Another £145,000 payout was agreed in a settlement after she filed a personal injury claim.

The payout is thought to be the biggest of its kind and could trigger a series of similar claims.

Trouble is the flood gates will open now..and just about drain the resources of LAs and education overall.

As someone already said, when I was a pupil the blackboard rubber was a constant reminder to pay attention and keep the gob shut.

Re: Teacher who lost her voice trying to make herself heard

Despite issues with rowdy kids and stuff, there has been concern with the acoustic design of many classrooms for a while now. Most rooms are built with hard surfaces throughout which reflect rather than absorb sounds which in turn can reverbrate. It might seem a bit extreme for someone to loose their voice, but with poor acoustics the learning environment is unsatisfactory for both teacher and pupil.

She was having a problem after only a month. That strongly suggests that the problem was there long before. It doesn't seem that kids were the problem

If a teacher has to shout, she is a lousy teacher.

Unless she's a PE teacher out on the field....

Unfortunately teachers cannot touch the little darlings.

Ah yes you couldn't win provided they were a good shot and lets be honest at my school most weren't so providing they hit you and not the boy in front, to the left or on the other side of the classroom you couldn't win I should've said, either you got a wack from the wooden bit or a massive chalk stain all over your blazer, happy days.

She probably hasn't given it a great deal of thought now she has £150k buring a hole in her pocket, good luck to her imo, she didn't make the rules just took advantage of them, don't hate the player hate the game that allows itself to be screwed over in such a fashion.
