Re: farewell to carrier Ark Royal
Sad day:(
I remember when I first saw the Harrier, it flew past the royal box, stop then hover, then fly backwards. Stop in front on the royal box, turn towards it the bow, turn away then fly off. As it bowed the crowd went ape. |

I do wonder what the Queen is thinking about all the cuts that are happening now....

Re: farewell to carrier Ark Royal
So sad.
Takes me way back when, in two successive jobs, I spent time commissioning equipment on the Ark Royal. Even got my wife and kids a personal "grand tour" of the ship. I'll never forget my eight-year-old daughter pretending to push me off the top of the take-off ramp. And the Harriers... At Farnborough, watching several in a row rise into the air, hover and bow, then turn and roar away, just in front of us. Awe inspiring. *Wipes away emotional tear* |
Re: farewell to carrier Ark Royal
Let's get real guys, why on earth would we want an aircraft carrier actually equipped with aircraft on our hands??......
Anyway, let's hope the MOD's supply of mothballs does the trick just in case the Argentinian's decide on another of their off shore expeditionary forces sometime during the next decade. |
