Acer - intermittent pink screen problem

Hello

My Dad has an Acer laptop which he bought from John Lewis about 18 months ago (it is still in warranty). Just recently he has been having an intermitteent problem when without warning, white parts of the screen go pink. This is sometimes accompanied by interference type lines flickering on the screen. It has been back to John Lewis and Acer and they can find no fault. They say they have stress tested it but - nothing. They can't even get it to go pink, but I know it happens because I have seen it.

There is now a bit of a stalemate as they say that without seeing it they can't fix it.

Any thoughts or similar problems anyone. My gut feeling is that it is hardware (loose connection?) because of the flickering lines.

Thanks

could it be radio interference of some description - does it happen in more than one location?

I think its possibly an intermittent connection between the LCD and motherboard (its normally a very thin ribbon between the screen and motherboard).

Standard VGA leads on monitors can do this if they aren't pushed in correctly.

Could OP take a digital photo of screen whilst problem showing on screen.
(Picture could reinforce argument for repair)?

Agree on that - it's just that Acer won't believe me!

Good idea - in fact John Lewis have also suggested that, so it looks like we are just going to have to take it back and wait for it to go wrong again!!!!
