Help: Huawei 538x/3 mi-fi

Hi All,

Would anyone who has a Huawei 538x modem (It's the same as the older '3' Mi-fi) be able to do me a massive favour?

I'm after a copy of the usb drivers for this modem, they usually appear as a CD-rom drive when you connect the device to the computer, if someone who has one could copy the contents and upload them I'd much appreciated it.

I have a 5380 that appears to be dead (I suspect someone's corrupted the flash), however if you stick it in firmware recovery mode (Hold Power + Connect) windows then recognises it as a "huawei mobile device" so I think there might be some hope to recovering it.

Problem is because it's dead The Virtual CD that would normally have the drivers on doesn't work, i'm hoping that if I can get hold of the drivers I can reflash the firmware from the recovery mode and that might fix the problem with it.

Seems the driver is common to more than one huawei modem.

I was able to install the drivers for an E1630 (T-mobile USB modem) and that in turn allowed me to communicate with the mi-fi unit and reflash it's firmware.

I would have tried that earlier, but I didn't have the other modem with me at the time. :o:

If anyone wants generic unbranded firmware managed to find it here.

No idea if it will flash on a '3' 538x since the one I wanted to recover was a generic unit.
Also it's for the Older Mi-fi so don't go flashing it on the new ones (The older ones had LED indicators where the newer ones have a nice OLED display)
