free slideshow creator for dvd player

Hi,

Is there any good free software that you can use to place images, text and some music together? I then need to write it to CD to play it on a normal dvd player.

Write to CD?? (if correct I presume you mean VCD/SVCD) If yes then you'll find that the image quality may suffer.

Any thing like Movie Maker will do what you want though on VCD or DVD

Can't honestly remember if Movie Maker is on XP, if yes then that or Movie Maker 2 should do the initial video, you might then have to use something like DVD santa to put onto a DVD/CD unless Movie Maker 1/2 write VCD's directly

Yeah Movie Maker comes with XP but you can't burn directly to disc with that version and the new version is only for Vista/7 :)

Picasa will let you do a slideshow, set background music, etc & burn to CD
