Windows Server......help!
Hi,
I would like to setup a server based on win server 2010. I have the operating system, up & running on a spare drive. Can anyone help with the setup of stations. We currently use 3 PC`s & want to reduce it to 1. I can add usb keyboard & mice easily enough, but how do you connect 3 monitors? |
Re: Windows Server......help!
Let me get this straight. Are you trying to use Windows server running on one PC to emulate three PCs, so three users all get their own windows desktops?

Re: Windows Server......help!
What is Windows Server 2010, never heard of it?

Re: Windows Server......help!
If it's multipoint server 2010 I believe you need multiple graphics cards to give you individual connectors for each pseudo-workstation.

Re: Windows Server......help!
At a rough guess, the OP wants to use Windows 2008 Terminal Services with three (or two?) thin clients.

Re: Windows Server......help!
It's not even 3 thin clients, just a single PC with three inputs/outputs...
I really do hope that SMG isn't expecting too much performance  You need either 3 video outputs (either 3 singles or 1 dual (most cards these days) and 1 single or 2 duals (will then give you 4) |
Re: Windows Server......help!
Sorry for the late replys,
I have this OS. Windows Server 2010, when loading it says 2008R2, then 2010. The video I have seen advertising it shows one PC with 5 "outstations", connected by USB hubs for the key / mouse. It shows all 5 pc`s running their own programmes, independant monitors with different progs running, seperate from the others, so, yes, one PC runing 5 outstations. I currently have 3 pc`s, 2 running simple games & 1 for me, surfing & the odd word programme. When I saw the amount of leccy they drew, I looked for an alternative, server looks to be right. I want 1 PC, with 1 master station, & 3 outstations, 2 for games & 1 for my cctv system. Take a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymTLrGaNe-s Server 2010 should allow this, assuming I can find how to connect the monitors, which will be......2..HDMI / VGA Monitor, 2, D-Sub, or VGA to 2 TV`s. Basicly, 4 graphics outlets. I have no idea how to amalgamate 4 video cards, & of course, windows dont tell you, I have dual output cards, but I`m sure they only output the same screen anyway. Has anyone used, or set up such a system. I recon it will save me a bomb on leccy. |

Re: Windows Server......help!
Doing a little googling, you need to get hold of "thin clients" which connect to the server, and provide connections for sound, video, keyboard and mouse.
