Can you lovely people on here help me ?

I am trying to settle a debate at work once and for all. My mate at work has had Talk talk Tv, Broadband & phone and reckons its miles better in all departments. can someone help me put this guy straight with the pro's & con's.

Talk Talk is only through a BT land line and it is dependent on the distance in most cases regards the speed of the connection, Virginmedia TV wins hands down and I have never had any issues with the telephone service, I have been a customer for at least 16 years and would not go back to a BT line.

Anything where BT is remotely connected is to be treated like it's infected with the Ebola virus.

Use your ten foot barge pole for something more useful.

I suspect the ops friend is referring to the old Tiscali service which offers an adsl2 enabled service including ip based tv. Link to list of channels Tiscali UK was bought out by Talk Talk and joins the old UK arm of AOL in the group.

Because the service is unbundled from the local loop, the phone service would be provided by Tiscali/Talk Talk from equipment connected in the exchange. The line from the exchange is BT's but the customer pays nothing to BT.

Unbundled loop services often offer much higher speeds than normally available, I know BE/O2 customers that can enjoy around 12meg if not too far from the exchange but no where near the 50meg offered by VM on its highest tarriff.

Hmmmmm. Think I'll stick with VM. I do like the idea of the minimote for the kids though. Something for the powers that be over at VM towers to look into? maybe as an optional purchasable extra even.

I got a TalkTalk sales girl in Belfast yesterday block my path when trying to avoid so I thought what the heck let's give it a go:

50mb solid BB vs somewhere near 4 or 5mb? not good enough.

Unlimited Calls vs surely you don't need free calls 24/7? I thought you're called TalkTalk and not "Only Talk some of the time"

TV vs do you really need that big a package? Do you need that bottle of wine on a Saturday night?

Vm vs a mediocre offering who can't compete on price or service.

Needless to say the conversation was short, and unsuccessful for her.
