180 Quangos Facing Axe

Google News Link

The promised Quango bonfire begins with a leaked document.

The costs of this bonfire are as many as 69,000 jobs lost with 5.2bn pounds in savings.

However it should be noted before disgust is expressed at mistreatment of the public sector that thusfar at least 1.35 million private sector jobs have been lost since 2008 while the public sector has enlarged somewhat.

Workers will lose their jobs, bosses will move sideways.

Any bets?

Nowhere for them to move if their Quango is getting abolished ;)

Job losses at all levels I'd imagine. Especially the Quangos Labour filled with their sycophants.

Bosses are likely to find other jobs though, that's the nature of the beast.

Usual and predictable response from Unions - threat of strikes.

So much duplication and things such as the TSA have only just taken over from the Housing Corporation.

I doubt that any teaching unions will mourn the GTC.It was imposed upon us without any consultation.

There'll be another quango along in a minute and they'll be filled with Tory sycophants, just like Labour did last time and the Torys the time before that, that's the real nature of the beast, each parties 'boys' need jobs and this is where they normally find them.

No reason at this time to think that's the case - the 'new' Quango will be the merged ones. Tories could fill those with their sycophants I guess.

Irrelevant speculation anyway, the bonfire is a very good thing.

Hopefully the BBC are the next target.
