Your Team: All time footballing XI

My all time Man Utd XI

1. Peter Schmeichel
2. John Gidman
3. Patrice Evra
4. Nemanja Vidic
5. Jaap Stam
6. Roy Keane
7. Brian Robson
8. Paul Scholes
9. Ruud Van Nistelrooy
10. Denis Law
11. George Best

Subs
Alex Stepney
Bobby Charlton
Eric Cantona
Ryan Giggs
Wayne Rooney

Not included names who would be on the brink of getting in are Mark Hughes, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Cristiano Ronaldo.

I have to say that it was very hard to choose.

Hopefully, there will be other interesting all time XI's from the likes of Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal and West Ham among others.

These are so hard. I could probably do 5 of them

______________Jennings
Kinnear____Mabbutt____MacKay___Bale
Lennon___Blanchflower____Hoddle___Jones
______Greaves____Klinsmann

Subs:

Clemence
King
Ardiles
Gazza
Sheringham

Manager: Bill Nicholson

-----

RB and RW are tough to think of. Cliff Jones used to play RW as well so maybe put him on there and Ginola on the left. So many great midfielders and strikers though. Maybe Lineker instead of Sheringham.

After less than a year of decent performances Gareth Bale has made your all time starting 11?

That looks very good I have to say, Greaves (he still holds some kind of goalscoring record I believe), Blanchflower, MacKay, to name just three are certainly names to be reckoned with that's for sure.

Great stuff :tu:

Its hard to not just pick the team of 61 really but in the 80s we did have some special players. Its the inbetween bits that are sad.

What should be interesting is which players appear on multiple teams. Sheringham for example is a Spurs legend even though he didn't win anything with us. Went to Man Utd for a couple of years and they won the Champions League trophy because of him.

Possibly the only team that don't want to find the net.;) I bet they'd take some catching though :o:

:notopic: Harry Haddock's son was my parish priest for a while.

Duncan Edwards is not in my list as I, and many others. have not seen him play (obviously), it was only assumed that he would go on to great things, but who knows what would have happened in his career if he had lived.

Anyway, another player "not on your list" who seemed quite prolific in his day was "Pop" Robson, but I guess you, like Punky, could build four or five "All time footballing XI's"
