Do I need to ring virgin

Hi
I renewed my contract with virgin last December and as a teaser they offered my free 24/7 calls and free basic TV

As I have full sky tv i opted for the tv to be installed in the lads room, however he left home just before the cards were renewed this year and when Virgin sent the card out I did not bother inserting it into the unit.

Well like a bad penny he;s back and I'm looking to get it up and running again, at first it said the card was invalid and the box did not operate properly with funny PR codes

Now after a period of time i can get the box to operate properly but i dont get all the channels. Am I right in assuming that even though I get free TV I should be receiving all 65 channels in the M+ package or will it be minus a few as I am receiving them for free

Just need to know before ringing virgin as i dont want to look silly asking for something i am not entitled to

I forgot to add when i found settings in the menu it says

CARD NUMBER.........NONE PRESENT
CARD STATUS.........REMOVED

This is despite the card being in the decoder even having removed and cleaned the chip

many thanks

Are they the new Smart Cards see http://shop.virginmedia.com/help/you...l?buspart=TV_4

If you have a contract with VM then you should have access to all channels within your package.

If the box has not had a valid card inserted or active for some time, VM may deactivate the box - I suggest calling 151.

HI

thanks for the reply, just had a look at the card and it is one of the new ones listed, so I guess it must of been deactivated as I can still watch channels without a card in, but it dont increase the channels when i insert the card

Are virgin open today to sort this one out for me??

Regards

Have you tried unplugging the box - put the card in and turn the box back on, letting the box reboot.

If it still does not work then call 151 from VM line and yet they should be open now.

The free basic TV package is called TV M. It has less channels than the lowest chargeable TV M+. TV M still has more channels than a box without a valid card.

Channels on each package are here:

what STB have you got? Is the card in the correct slot?

some older PACE boxes have 2 slots... if so it needs to be in the bottom slot (sometimes behind a flap)

Sounds like your box may need an IN hit to pair your new card

It sounds like you may have put the card in the wrong slot if not you will need to call technical support who will try to fix it remotely and if that fails they will book an engineer.

What model is the box the will be a label on the back.
