External speakers for 19" TV
We have a Technika LCD19-208e TV as a bedroom set and would like to improve the sound quality a little. The only audio outputs it appears to have are a digital coax audio out (???) and headphone socket. I've never come across the former but am guessing that we could use either to connect some small external powered speakers but only the coax out would allow volume control via the remote control, which we'd like. We just want to connect some small, cheap, basic stereo speakers really so what would be the best way of doing this, what cables would we need and what sort of speakers would do the trick?
TVM :tu: ps. Just noticed, it does have a USB connection for media playback from a memory stick so could we use USB speakers? |

I don't see why you shouldn't just put some powered computer speakers into the headphone socket. Most, if not all, headphone sockets have variable volume controlled by the remote.

Re: External speakers for 19" TV
Thanks for that. Just dug out and tried an old pair of headphones and sure enough the volume to them is controlled via the TV R/C. So it looks like I can plug some powered speakers into the headphone socket without any issues. :tu:
---------- Post added at 15:16 ---------- Previous post was at 14:26 ---------- Problem solved!! :) Just remembered a pair of Goodmans powered speakers which used to be connected to an old DAB/CD player of mine. Plugged them into the TV via the headphone socket and the sound's great! :D |
