DVD Recorder

Am looking for one, a pre-requisite is that it can record an NTSC signal as it's only use will be to record gaming footage. All of my games are NTSC apart from a smattering of PAL ones, my previous recorder would only record PAL so it was useless and broke anyway.

Doesn't need to have a hard drive, just something that will do as I want. According to a Philips rep I was chatting to earlier none of their recorders will record NTSC, none sold in the UK anyway.

Re: DVD Recorder

My Panasonic one does, which has been annoying in the past! I bought it multi region from Richer Sounds, and you have to manually put it in ntsc mode to play back R1 DVDs, which is fine, until you forget to put it back in R2, and you record something off tv in ntsc.

What is the model number of yours? I can look it up and check out the specs.

Thanks.

it's quite an old model now Panasonic dmr-eh50.

I'd recommend having a hard drive, cos then you can edit what you record there easily before burning to disc.

It might be just as easy to buy a capture card for a PC/MAC, then edit it on there.

I thought about a CC, trouble is they are damned expensive and am not really sure about the quality of ones that are not as expensive, like Dazzle. I am watching a few Panasonic recorders on Ebay, hopefully one will pan out. :)

Just like to add I bought an Hauppauge HD PVR, awesome piece of kit. Didn't want to spend £150 but it was worth it for other projects aswell as the PS2.

Another vote for Hauppauge (pronounced hop-hog, btw). Although pricey, coupled with a decent computer it does give you tremendous flexibility to transfer files, edit them, convert into formats suitable for handheld devices, etc.
