Concern with d-link615

Hi guys.
Recently upgraded 20-50 VIP. Engineer installed modem and router all was working fine on his leaving. I removed my own G router from the system. Then the hassle of connection started producing all sorts messages of conflicts. I decided just to reset, when I regained a wireless connection I noticed that the my network name created by the engineer was still in place with one I created beside in brackets.
Secondly error messages which brought about the reset made reference two adapters: ISATAP setup and 6TO4 adapter (this device cannot start code 10) Checking in device manager both of remain with yellow triangle exclamation mark against them.
Can these issues be easily rectified?:dunce:

It appears you wanted only one router but when the engineer left there were two in place. Taking one out is going to cause problems!

You seem now to have somehow damaged your drivers. System restore may be your easiest solution.

When you have done this, your router may not work - you need to attach the PC by cable, reboot modem and router and, fingers crossed, you may get the internet again but before you do this download and print setup instructions for the router (or get Virgin tech support to talk you through it). You will need to know the existing network settings - if you don't know them, you will have to change all the devices networked wirelessly.

Thanks for the information (Inneedofhelp), just not sure whether to even bother. Done some research last night and seemly Microsoft were aware of this issue in relation to drivers over the years and its effect on numerous O/S's. They state although device manager flags this as an issue, the drivers are fine and just ignore whats displayed. The other matter is within my taskbar place the curser on twin monitors highlights engineers Dlisnk and brackets my named network ,yet click onto connect to a network and it just my created name. So answers on a postcard. It's untidy but works does it need fixing?

There's not much information to go on - safest thing, if it ain't broke....

You might want to download the DDWRT version for your router though - for the DIR 615, see this thread:

It's seems a bit technical for some me to be honest, and not sure what my gain would be.
So I'll just sit on the fence and read the threads and try to gain knowledge on this topic and cherry-pick that what applies to me.
thanks away.

Re: Concern with d-link615

Thought you might says that, not an easy thread to get to grips with - all you do is download the factory file from page one, go into your router's settings page and choose to upgrade firmware, point it to that file and wait a couple of minutes. Follow the instructions, then do the same for the last file (latest build) on the last page of the thread. All you then do is put in your wireless settings as before.

You will get a better performing router with more features and, who knows, there's an outside chance your other problems may be solved too.
