hdmi test

is there anyway (apart from taking my box to another house with hd) to test to see what is wrong with my hdmi set-up? lastnight everything was fine with picture and sound all ok. had some work done in lounge today so had to unplug the box and tv to move before work. gets home now and plugs in and got picture but no sound.

checked service status and there seems to be no issues - that i can see, and my tv appears to be ok, changed it to scart and had sound - but the pic was terrible. now without knowing anyone round here who has an hd setup i can't check if it's the box or hdmi on the tv that's failed..........unless anyone else knows of any service issues, i don't want to have to get a tech out for this and he find's it my tv and i'm left with a charge and no hd. and if it's the box...........well that'll be the 3rd one to go wrong this year

I would ring up so that they can check the box out for you in case it is at fault first before taking your TV elsewhere.

Is it possible for you to try a different TV set with HDMI? Have you tried resetting your TV to default settings? Tried a different HDMI cable/socket on the TV?

Thety can check the box remotely and see what channel you are on plus the connection type and give you instructions on how to ensure the cabling is correctly in place.

We cannot check out sound as that is just a art of the signal.

only one tv in the house ben. tried reboots of tv and v+. only got the one lead that came with this current box - which is only 3 odd months old and only got one hdmi socket on the tv.

well done everything i can think off. just wanted to see if i could prove if it was the box one way or another - last thing i want is to get a charge as it's infact my tv's port that has failed, which would mean new tv time which i can defo not afford at this point in time, or anytime in the next few months

Ah I see, hard to think what you could do. Though sometimes swapping the ends of the HDMI cable with everything still switched on can fix issues such as loss of picture/sound. Make sure HDMI audio overide is off in the sound settings as well :)

Have you changed the HDMI socket the device is plugged into? We had a similar problem a few weeks ago and it seems we used the ..."wrong" lead
