is someone trying to break me?
I've viewing my router logs and there are loads of
"Unallowed access from WLAN 00-1B-2F-9E-09-90" like 10 or so a minute. Any advice. |
Re: is someone trying to break me?
Just means someone tried to connect and failed.. It happens all the time..kids playing with network adaptors, or simply a wlan on auto-negotiate seeing which networks it can connect to.. Nothing to worry about

Re: is someone trying to break me?
The first thing I'd do is confirm it wasn't something of mine trying to connect. It's a Netgear device, if that's of any help.
It may be somebody trying to guess your password. It's more likely something completely innocent. Providing you have a strong password and you're *not* using WEP encryption I wouldn't worry about it. A strong password is going to take somebody a looooooong time to crack, especially at ten attempts a minute. :) |
Re: is someone trying to break me?
If it was a hack attempt then they'd be hundreds per minute ;)

Re: is someone trying to break me?
I use wpa-psk and i dont have any netgear kit. Is there a way to send them a msg to tell them to BEEP off?

Re: is someone trying to break me?
Not really, just set the router to access list only that should stop any password attempts

Hmmm, Personally I don't broadcast my SSID

Re: is someone trying to break me?
Thanks guys. I noticed my SSID was being broadcasted (i'm sure i had disabled it).
No more attempts. Now for my next ftp question which I'll post in the relevant topic |
Re: is someone trying to break me?
Maybe also turn off "allow WAN ping" if the router has such an option.
