Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 upgrade question

I currently use Kaspersky 2010 Internet security 3 user edition. It's due to expire in a couple of weeks.

Last week I downloaded KIS 2011 from Kaspersky's site and installed it on one of my PCs using my existing serial number. It functions as normal but of course still shows the same expiry date.

I first started to look at another 3 user licence but for the 2011 edition. It costs a reasonable £34.93 from Amazon.

However after using the 2011 download on my PC I wondered if I could simply buy another 3 user licence copy of 2010 from PC World for £14.99 and then upgrade like I did on the other PCs

Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this?? Will it work??

Thanks

well its really a sub your buying isnt it? it all depends on if the sub allows free upgrades or not.

You could try it and if in time it realises and kicks up a stick you still have 2010 to use for the remainder of the year

perhaps update the subs on 2010 then upgrade the versions

It doesn't matter what licence you buy (there are cheap 2009 licences floating about), you can always upgrade to the latest version during your subscription period - look it up on their site to confirm though.

Remember its free if you are a Barclays online banking customer.

Not true.

You cannot upgrade an OEM licence - I've been there - got the t-shirt.

Salu - if it's a retail licence, you should be able to do that.

Be aware that wo can no longer customize the install - you have to install the entire suite - you can't opt to not have xyz feature installed.

Re: Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 upgrade question

Just upgraded our 2 laptops + Media centre from 2010 to 2011.

Bit of a problem on the media centre XP home SP3.
Upgraded and lost all USB ports, checked device manager and all drivers had the yellow triangle ! (code 39 or 41)

What a PITA due to having a keysonic wireless USB keyboard.
Took an hour to fix including going in the loft for a PS2 keyboard and trying to remember how to get around a PC using just a keyboard  been a while since I last went there.

You need to remove\uninstall KIS 2011 with the removal tool which is on the Kaspersky website and select All Known Products.
Uninstall all USB drivers through Device manager, reboot, check device manager and still seeing the yellow triangle with code 39 or 41 uninstall all USB drivers again but before reboot re-install KIS 2011 enter serial, reboot and hopefully when windows restarts your USB drivers should install.

Would have been so much easier if I also had a PS2 mouse :erm:
