Very confusing, to kill off the internet wouldn't you need to knock out every single DNS provider worldwide (including Google/Open DNS)? Even then it'll never be actually dead as computers will always be connected somehow, even if they're only accessible via some other method.

Is it just me, or does that story make no sense at all? The whole point of the Internet is that it is decentralised...whatever opinion to the contrary the US may hold. There is no one, or even several, 'key points' from which it or any part of it could be 'rebooted'. It can't be taken down in any case; that too was the crux of the original ARPAnet design philosophy. It was designed to be robust even in the face of multiple nuclear airbursts (to cause EMPs). About the only thing which could do it would be a global EMP burst - in which case you're most likely talking asteroid impact, in which case we suddenly have way more to worry about than the Internet. :shocked:
