New TV

I am looking for a good TV for HD and sports, what do you think of this

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/sony-br...98075-pdt.html

I don't really want to go higher than £700 less would be better, It needs to be 37inch or 40inch, I don't mind LCD or LED I don't want a plasma.

Any idea's would be welcome.

Re: New TV

why don't you want plasma?

please tell me you're not one who believes they need regassing or use too much power or a boatload of the other myths about them?

if you could go to 42" it'll give you more choice, manufacturer wise

Re: New TV

You can get a 42" LG Plasma HERE for £379 I have the first 50" LG plasma listed at £599 and it is brilliant.

Or you can go down the LCD route HERE

My brother has just bought a Panny brand new plasma and it uses 100 watts more than my standard LCD which uses more wattage than a LED backlit LCD

Plasma TVs use more power than LCD TVs. In our tests of TVs since the beginning of 2008 plasmas consume, on average, roughly two to three times more electricity to produce an image of the same brightness as LCD. In the last couple of years, plasma TV makers have made some progress--Panasonic claims improvements of 30 percent yearly, for example--but they still can't compete with LCD for energy efficiency. One problem is that in plasma TVs, each pixel is a discrete light source (think of it as a tiny light bulb), so when resolution increases, say from 720p to 1080p, power use goes up as well. The intensity of light from each pixel must be increased to brighten the picture as a whole. /
not exactly a myth eh?

What? and you'd trust buying anything from electrical-deals? looks like a 5 year old from Nigeria ( referring to the cons over there, not being rasist ) made the site.
and sorry yes it is £391 + VAT i have mine set to that as i'm in purchasing

My attitude? i just said "woooo that's not very big is it lol" where's the attitude in that? just found it funny because it's a small discount and you could probably get more off just from bartering in store.

as for the ex VAT price, not really misleading and i did say in a further post that i had mine set to ex vat because of purchasing,
and you actually read terms and conditions for a forum lol you must have way too much time on your hands.
Nuff said, lets just forget it and get back to the subject in hand
