laptop maximum resolution - how can i increase

my laptop is an acer 6920g with bluray and i have installed the latest catalyst 10.6 software and checked out the standard windows 7 screen resolution options, but i can only select the
Max Resolution. 1366 x 768

is it not possible to select...1920 x 1080 because the laptop should be full HD? but its not allowing me...

ACCORDING to some information i found, it says

Acer 6920G The Aspire 6920G (AS6920G) belongs to the just announced Aspire Gemstone Blue entertainment laptop series, with advanced multimedia features, an innovative design, and the latest Intel Centrino processing technology. The AS6920G includes a 16″ display either with 1920×1080 or 1366×768 resolution, and 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

I think you've answered your own question. You've got the cheaper version of the 6920G.

Yeah it's right, it'll play it in 1080i but not 'P' (downscaled). If it says 1080p then there is a problem.

If it has an HDMI port (?) then it will play at 1920x1080 but only when connected to an external television

that was an expensive mistake! always read and reread the full specs if you're buying for a particular reason! although in this case it will still work on the laptop screen, it won't be the full-on HD, just the baby version. that's gonna niggle you - sat in the back of your head all the time!

you could try returning it on the premise that you can pay the extra for the more expensive version. worth a try I suppose...
