Windows XP help & support virus threat

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/10473495.stm

A problem that Microsoft don't know how to fix yet. Mostly spreading via web links and such like so be careful where you go and as ever make sure your a/v stuff is current.

Quote:

To avoid falling victim, Microsoft advised users to turn off the part of the Help and Support system that is vulnerable. It has produced an automated tool that can do this for users.
Would have been nice if the BBC had pointed people to that tool :(

Im running XP Professional and going by that, you could go

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Component Services > Services (Local) > Help and Support.

[Right click] Properties > [General Tab] Startup type : Automatic

Set it to Disabled.
