Installing Apps On Windows 7
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit edition stores 32 bit and 64 bit applications in different directories.
Does it do this automatically? In other words, when you run the program installer does Windows 7 recognise what type of program it is installing and automatically put the various parts of the program in the right directories please? |
Re: Installing Apps On Windows 7
Yes it's all transparent. Microsoft effectively tricks the program to the correct directory.

Do you know if it's worth installing the XP Mode & Virtual Machine I have heard about? Was hoping to install Windows XP Office but believe that there might be problems. Thanks again for your help. |

Re: Installing Apps On Windows 7
Ok but if that fails there is open office.
Everything "should" work, the only problem I've run into is starcraft (1998) often displays the wrong colours. |
Re: Installing Apps On Windows 7
Office XP should work fine with Windows 7. There is a known issue with Outlook 2002 not saving passwords but the rest of the suite should be OK.

Re: Installing Apps On Windows 7
Office XP does work fine on Win7 32 - that's what I'm using.

Just right click on an empty space on the desktop and select screen resolution. Once the screen resolution window has opened launch starcraft (without closing the screen resolution window). All should be well :D Let me know if you try it, has worked with everyone else I know :) |
