Cmd prompt tip for Vista/7/XP

1 Attachment(s)
This may allready be known by some but i only found out about it today so thought i would share it. Iv`e tested it on 7 and XP so it should work on Vista.

Basically if use the cmd prompt a lot in a session then if you hit F7 a list of all the actions taken comes up. You then can use the up and down arrows to find the right command (say a directory change), then hit Enter.

Nothing special but may be of use to some :erm:

Nice find.
I knew that pressing the up arrow key did a similar thing, but went through the history of commands in the order they were entered; one by one. This way you can see all the commands in one go.
One to remember.

you can also use the command "DOSKEY /history"

Im on Win98se and DOSKEY is very useful indeed!

However i just discovered something i didnt know!

If i type something like :Netstat (c:\Netstat) and then press RETURN and @ the next c:\ press the RIGHT ARROW,the command i just typed appears!! (Also quite useful)

Ah the joys of Dos :)

did you also know that if you hit tab it makes a guess at finishing your line. it's not as good as most shells used in Linux/Unix, but saves typing long directory names :)

You know you're getting old when:

#63: Somebody comes up with a great Windows GUI command prompt tip that's been available in DOS since 1984 and and since been ported to the Windows command prompt! :)

BTW - Try pressing F1 and see what happens ;)
