D-Link Router & Windows 7 (Wireless)

Follow on from this topic last week.

Wired connection works ok. But the Windows 7x Laptop wont stay online for 2min. Is there a setting on Windows 7 that has been chanced by someone & stopping it working?

Tried Upgrade Drivers but was told no newer version available for Wireless Card.

Is it the laptop or the router dropping the connection?

Might be worth trying a different channel for the wireless in case something nearby is causing conflict.

Just an idea, saw it on a site somewere.
Try changing the transmit rate on the router from 100mbps to 10mbps see if that helps.
It is in advanced network settings .
Open a web browser and enter 192.168.0.1 and press Enter. When the login window appears, set the user
name to Admin and leave the password box empty. Click Log In to continue.
You can always change it back if no good.

Hi. I've tried to edit the security from TKIP to AES. Edit channel 6 to 13 & renamed the SSID to something new & not our home name.

- PC connected via cable works ok (as it should)

- HP Laptop (XP) on Wireless is limted & only works in room next to PC at times.

- Toshiba Laptop (Windows 7) shows as connected & 4x green bars & excellent signal. Nothing loads.

Friend brought his Toshiba laptop (same as mine). Same issue there cant surf. So its not just my Laptop (or dodgy WiFi Card).

Any other ideas what is stopping the Windows 7 system working?

Anyone in Bristol are fancy a job fixing it lol. :p:

Here are some Screen Grabs from D-LINK..

Try changing from WPA2 to WEP.

Iv`e seen a couple of things which you could try, something along the lines of IPv6 broadcasts confusing the router.
Anyway try disabling the IP Helper service via "services.msc"

Microsoft explain how to turn off IPv6 better than i could here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852

Maybe if you don`t wan`t to go that route you could try unticking for your network adapter.

Have you tried disabling Wi-Fi Protected Setup?

No I have not, it was like that when I looked at the Router (after my friend phoned up Virgin & they told her to set it up that way)
