Samsung V+ Intermittent digital audio problems
Recently had two of the above boxes installed and I have one of them connected to my Sony amp via an optical cable. I am disappointed in that I occasionally notice a slight break/glitch in the audio when listening to DD (2/0) or DD (3/2.1) audio via the optical connection whilst watching HD channels. I think it also happens to (PCM (48Khz) when watching SD channels. My amp display blinks as if the audio stream disappears very briefly. The analogue audio through the scart connection appears to be OK. I have a second Samsung V+ box in my son’s room and I connected this up to my Sony amp and it shows exactly the same problem. Any one else experience this annoying behaviour?

Re: Samsung V+ Intermittent digital audio problems
Yes, I get this problem. Both live and recorded programmes. It's actually got worse lately.
Receiver is a Sony STR-DB930. Audio from any source other than the V+ box is fine. |

Are you using the Samsung V+ and do you have it connected to your Sony amp via an optical cable. |

In that case I have it on good authority that this problem only happens when you connect the Samsung V+ via the Optical connection. I hope I am not breaking any forum rules but look at post 57 in the following thread for RobbieD’s comments. http://www.avforums.com/forums/virgin-media/1259219-samsung-v-dd-sound-glitch-2.html Could you try connecting via a HDMI cable and let me know if it solves the problem for you. Unfortunately I do not have any HDMI connections on my current Sony amp therefore I have to use the optical option but hope to upgrade my amp soon. |
Re: Samsung V+ Intermittent digital audio problems
I have no HDMI inputs on my amp as it's too old.

Looks like you are in the same boat as me at the moment. :( One option is to reboot you Samsung V+ say every other day, not ideal but you will find that after a reboot the problem appears to go away but unfortunately it will gradually return over a period of several days. You could also consider getting your Samsung V+ changed for the SA V+ I did not want to do this as I am happy with the Samsung V+ apart from the Optical issue. |
