Yorkshireman grows cannabis, accidentally cooks himself.

A man in west Yorkshire who essentially set up his own small plantation growing cannabis at home has died of hyperthermia (overheating).

The man built three foil tents for growing the product. These tents were heated by a battery of halogen lights.

Apparently, when Police entered the house, the temperature inside was 38 degrees C, and several Police officers almost fainted.

A sad story.

Having been in temperatures > 40 degrees centigrade*, I can sympathise with the Police. Especially as he had been dead for a few days when they found him.

* In my case, I went to help a friend set up something on one of his work's servers. It was a hot day anyway, and when we got into the server room, the one air conditioner had blown a fuse. I don't know how hot it was when we went in, but after two hours of leaving all the doors/windows open and letting every fan in the building blow air into the server room, the thermometer was still at it's maximum, 40 degrees C.

Yep it must have been fairly 'fragrant'. Even a cannabis cultivation wouldn't have been able to cover up that smell.

I'm not so sure, I mean the guy was obviously an idiot. I'm sure he would have found some other way out. :)

possibly by chopping through 30,000 volt cables in his local substation in an attempt to connect a extension lead to run his halogen lamps :D

No, you're not right. At all.

Other than the fact it's only a questionable man made law which says he shouldn't have been doing what he was, there's nothing to say he would or wouldn't have been killed before today in some other manner, had he not been growing cannabis.

Let's check the criteria -

Removed himself from the gene pool - check
Stupidity - He didn't provide a cooler environment for himself insulated from the plants - so check.
Predictable outcome - Pretty much, so check
Without Procreating - Insufficient information.

He could only be eligible for an Honorable Mention.
