Germany: Fined for lax security on Wifi

I hope for gawd sake that this doesn't become relevant to the UK otherwise ACS/DL and other law firms chasing bogus copyright sharing claims will have a field day in the UK

Eccentric is certainly not the word i would use for this :)

Your dead right though Kymmy, i was having a chat with someone in the pub yesterday, his son had received a letter about 3D pinball but had not sent them any money. I told him it`s a big scam that started in Germany and they would have to prove you where the one using the network.
If this comes to fruition the goal posts will surely be moved a bit :(

I thought it would already be relevant to the UK under the Digital Economy Bill, since wifi hotspot owners are responsible for any traffic on their network

So someone secures their network with WPA and the password is broken through dictionary attack or social engineering and they're still responsible. I just can't see that standing up in a British court somehow.
