Paypal and card expiry date

With Abbey changing it's name to Santander we got new cards recently (business and personal accounts.. New cards had the same number just the bank name, expiry and security number changed.

Well dopey me forgot to change the details with PAYPAL.. Renewing a godaddy domain name suddenly bounced back the paypal payment, only then did I realise that I hadn't changed the expiry number so I logged into paypal and changed it succesfully..

Godaddy again bounced back the payment, tried not going through paypal but directly through godaddy using the CC number.. Bounced back as unauthorised!!!

20 minute phone call later to the bank to learn that because the expiry numbers didn't match Paypal had sent out an alert to block my card

I know they're being security concious but surely a PAYPAL block should have been their first step (bank agreed with me and he was a bit peeved at how many times this has happened recently to others)

So guys, if you get a new card make sure you change the details online especially if there's only small changes like CSS2/expiry :(

Wasn;t the end of the story though...

30 minutes later the card was still blocked..(they said it would only be 10 minutes) turns out that some blocks fail to be taken off properly.. Another 20 minute phone call later and glad to say that the essentials are now working OK ;)

Talking of Paypal and thier security...

I've just closed one of my accounts (Had a business account for a now defunct company) and when I clicked close it asked me to complete either the Bank account number or Debit card number registered on that account to confirm that I am the account holder. Now I couldn't be bothered digging out all the old paperwork so a simple way round their secure system was to delete the account and card from the profile and then it let me close the account without any security questions being asked..

WAY TO GO PAYPAL!!!!
