Somali Islamist insurgents seize pirate haven

Quote:

Somali insurgents have taken control of one of the main pirate havens in the south of the country.
Residents said several hundred rebels of the group Hizbul Islam had taken over the coastal town of Haradhere and that the pirates had fled.
Hizbul Islam wants to establish Sharia law and order and put an end to the pirate trade in the town, the leader of the insurgents told the BBC.
Now is this a good thing or does it bode ill? I'm certainly not sure either way.

Like I said originally it's hard to see if it going to be a good turn of events.

What's going to be interesting is how the rest of the world deals with the situation..if they even notice.

I don't suppose the rest of the world will do anything judging by the general state of affairs in Somalia. The insurgents could just take over the piracy. I was wondering about the fate of the British couple held by the pirates & found this today:

It appears they were "evacuated".

What is interesting is the largely unreported number of British muslims travelling on the "Djibouti express" of late. There have been large numbers of them travelling to Somalia in support of the al-Shabab militants.

It's a bit "worrying" to say the least.

EDIT.

By "bizarre coincidence".

No need to worry Angry, it's a religion of peace after all. ;)

That it may well be, however I think it's worthy of note that dozens of radicalised individuals are openly travelling between the UK and theatres of conflict.

How is this happening, who is facilitating it and what, if anything, are the security forces doing to prevent it?

What can they do ? Intern anyone they think is a radical and on their way to some third world toilet to learn to be a Muj ? Well, I think we all remember how well that worked in Norn Iron.... ie, not very.... I'd rather radical British Muslims went to Afghan to fight the forces of the great and little satans, rather than they strap on an explosive waistcoat, and turn our streets into charnel houses again. Better they get slotted in (incert name of 3rd world toilet here), than allegedly trying to de-radicalise them at home....

agreed ,and trying to de radicalise them is a lost cause far better getting them out of this country
