Is virginmedia switching all ntl accounts to gmail
If so im not happy about this. Google is well known for invasions of privacy and already with the buzz fiasco the last thing we need is to become part of it. does this mean all contacts will become open to the web, are we part of buzz by default. what privacy settings do we need to change.

I think you're getting confused between Googlemail and gmail. Although owned by the same people googlemail is known for spamming where as gmail is more private, domain based and doesn't have the same t&c's of the more public googlemail

Re: Is virginmedia switching all ntl accounts to gmail
The other issue is that it blocks exe, reg and other attachments, even when zipped, so measures would be needed if you wanted to send a reg tweak to a friend (actually, that is a simple one, send as TXT and advise to rename it.
If there was an opt-out of this "protection", I would - I already filter attachment posts to a seperate folder, for additional caution, and I can see legitimate uses for sending exe, such as a portable presentation. Oh well, maybe they don't count 7Z as "zipped". |
Re: Is virginmedia switching all ntl accounts to gmail
WinRar also works for sending .exe files.
