Obviously amateur night when this bomb was designed, but still good news that it failed to explode.

It reminded me a bit of the failed London bombings that started smoking but didn't explode.

All the NYPD need to do now is look for some crap car parking at JFK :erm:

There is no evidence the failed attempt to detonate a car bomb in New York was the work of al-Qaeda or any other big terrorist group, the city's mayor says.
Michael Bloomberg spoke after police dismissed claims by a Pakistani Taliban group that it was responsible.
Investigators are hunting a middle-aged white man seen removing his shirt near the scene at Times Square on Saturday evening and stuffing it into a bag.

A man suspected of attempting to detonate a car bomb in New York City has been arrested.
US Attorney General Eric Holder named the man as Faisal Shahzad, a US citizen of Pakistani origin.
He was arrested at John F Kennedy airport in New York attempting to board a flight to Dubai, Mr Holder said.
That was quick!

That terrorists come from areas of great political and social unrest? I agree!

It's been about Pakistan from almost the start of the war in Afghanistan.

I remember posting years ago now that soldiers coming back were saying they were not fighting Afghans, but instead were fighting Pakistanis who come over the border.

Of course one of the forum members of a higher stature claimed this was rubbish. What we have seen in recent years is openness about the source of the problem being Pakistan. This was always played down until Obama drew attention to it in his election campaign.

Pakistan is full of hate for the west, but Pakistanis seem to like the benefits of living in the west.

Does someone want the penny and the bun?

Well, Pakistan did help to set up the Taliban in Afghan. So is it really surprising that Pakistanis would be going over the mountains to have a crack at the nasty "Crusaders".

I didn't think this was disputed. I thought it was widely known that elements within Pakistan were streaming into Afghanistan (and vice-versa), which is why none of the countries involved wanted to leave Afghanistan for risk of leaving a nuclear state at the mercy of Terrorists.

It was disputed by the Liberal members of CF, if I remember one poster claimed that returning soldiers were claiming to be fighting 'Johnny Taliban' not Pakistanis. In my experience soldiers at the time returning, claimed that they were fighting Pakistanis and that they had killed the Taliban ten times over. The claim was that Pakistanis were coming over the border attempting to take over the (at the time) deserted poppy fields. This was also around the time when the government put a gagging order on soldiers returning. (If I remember this was around the time of Op Herrick 7/8)

The involvement of Pakistan was played down, it wasn't until Obama mentioned it in his election campaign did it suddenly become news and 'OK' for the previous deniers to jump on the bandwagon.
