Dual monitor problem
Hi all,
I just bought a DVI to DVI cable to have a 2nd monitor, i have the AGP version of a 1gb HD 4650 ATI graphics card running XP SP 3, now if i go to display properties or the ATI CCC they both can see 2 monitors but wont enable them both they just do a refresh then give me the option to enable them again. I tried to lower resolution size and the coulor bit and clicking the Extend my windows desktop button, but still nothing. Also, the 2nd cable is DVI to VGA adapter then VGA to VGA cable to the monitor this cable will work in both outputs on the card and both inputs (both monitors). The DVI to DVI cable can only go in one monitor (no input on the other) but dose'nt work in either output of the card but like i said it is being detected which makes me think the cable is ok. I know the DVI monitor works because it has been used by a digibox. I have read that someone swapped the cables round and it asked him to if he wanted to install a secound monitor but has'nt given me that option, been trying to sort this for 3 hours straight and not even close, please anyone got any ideas ? As always, thanks in adavance... |

Extending...

Re: Dual monitor problem
so you right click on the screen in CCC and select extend?
|
Re: Dual monitor problem
Yh right click then enable or drag and drop it in the box (which Im guessing do the same thing) then it refreshes like it's going to activate it but goes back to the same thing.

Re: Dual monitor problem
i have notice that if i have the computer turned on and i swap the vga cable from the working output to the other it does`nt work so it seems the pc or the gpu can`t enable the 2nd output.
