*** McAfee DAT Warning ***
 

Hi all,

McAfee have released a DAT which detects svchost.exe as a virus and can potentially kill or cause issues with XP SP3 (possibly Vista) PC's

I'll update this in a bit with the infected DATs - there are some work arounds in place.

Symptoms:

PC reboots after McAfee update

Taskbar looks like "classic" bar - cannot change

Unable to view Event viewer Logs

Thanks for this. I've already found one of our users has picked up this DAT, and has XP SP3. Luckily no ill effects to date.

Well, I had this and it totally screwed my PC up. I've had to totally re-install windows. Sent a nasty email to McAfee and have junked them as a virus protection option. They turned out to be worse than the things they are supposed to protect me from.
