I can understand that. from the start you had everything 'normal' people and resources were there and things just went along with what's needed.

then you throw a big spanner in the works where people and resources had to cope and adapt to the new demand. with no real help from the government to be able to do it.

it's like a disaster strikes and you have no extra resources other than what you had before to deal with it.

As silly as it may sound to some. if you were to take all the houses away from immigrants and give them to others. there wouldn't be nearly as much homelessness.

if you were to give no health care or benefits and all else that costs the country money. then there would be more money.

if you were to stop immigration that would help tremendously.

but as it is. cries for help will still be there because we don't really have the resources. we just plod along as we are and cope with what we have.

i think immigration should be a much bigger issue in this general election than it seems to be ,all the parties seem to be focusing on tax issues ,but i feel that immigration and the rapid degeneration of our public services is an issue that most people want addressed

Well of course HMG has been in denial about such issues for years ever since they forecast just a few tens of thousands of EU migrants would come here after the EU expanded. The result of this is that resentment, intolerance and fear grow in both the host and migrant communities as public services struggle to cope with demand. These problems were entirely foreseeable as soon as it became clear that the numbers involved were massively underestimated yet HMG has been very slow to act where they've done so at all. Sadly, these problems will only get worse as the economy continues in the doldrums and when the cuts which are going to have to be made start to bite. The tactic used to be to brand anyone who raised such questions as racists/xenophobes but when they realised they couldn't get away with that anymore they started promising an open debate about these issues... :rolleyes: One thing that hasn't changed, however, is the apparent lack of any meaningful plans or measures to address serious problems like these.

So those immigrants wouldn't then be homeless? How did you work that one out?

i think he meant they would be in their country or origin and not overburdening ours .

But who's place are they taking?
if it never happened in the first place then they wouldn't be made homeless.

in this country you can be classed as deliberately making yourself homeless. you are not automatically entitled to an house.
you can make yourself deliberately unemployed. you are not automaticaly entitled to any help.
the benefits system now. before you were classed as being living in poverty and by law had to have a certain amount for being in poverty. now you can have your once 'poverty' money taken off you as a punishment for not doing enough to find work.

immigrants don't get penalised for the first two.

fair point ,it is after all there choice to come here and quite a few have no plans once they get through immigration control so yes they are making themselves deliberately homeless/jobless/

Over the last 15 years or so we've come to know plenty of EU migrants who've come to live here and, contrary to what some people may think, many are only too aware of the adverse effects of large scale migration into certain areas/regions. Whilst they're in the main very grateful to have had the chance to improve their lot, in most cases we've found them to be very pragmatic about the reality and just as crticial of our government's shocking ineptitude as anyone else. Perhaps that's because although they're direct beneficiaries in some ways, they're also victims.

I agree, however I guess only people living in certain 'full' areas would understand/take the issue seriously:(

I don't see it a problem in Leciester which has a VERY high immigrant and ethnic make-up.

possibly, but now the cities are getting 'full' rural areas are starting to feel the pinch as immigrants are moved into outlying towns and villages and when those people can't just walk into their local gp for some asprin then all hell will break lose
