DVLA still incompetent?

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Ne...-licence-hell/

The DVLA always seem to be above any blame.

I'm not sure what to think in this case, but personally I have spoken to people who have had categories removed from their licence.

Not in the least surprised as when I received my photo license they had me down as passing my test 5 months earlier which was also in a different year, included was a letter statng that they were unsure of the date so gave me the earlier pass date.

I would not mind but the paper licence I had sent back had the correct details on it, rather a pathetic shambles and I am not surprised that this has happened.

I first heard of the licence problems from a stranger who started talking to me whilst I was having a cuppa at the local regular biking cafe. To be honest I took his story about his missing bike licence with a pinch of salt, but within a few months many similar claims were hitting the headlines.

Either DVLA are incompetent or there are a lot of people lying or producing forged photocopies.

If the DVLA can screw up their own records with regards to the date that I passed my test then I would go with incompetent.;)

Re: DVLA still incompetent?

We sent off a log book after we sold our car, low and behold they claim they never received it. We then sent off a letter with the date we sent the log book and a complaint by recorded delivery, they claimed they never received that either. We've had incorrect fines sent to us for this and that about the car we no longer own, and we've gone to the building in person to be told all of this rubbish and that we have to pay.

I can't believe the way the DVLA is run. What a joke.

DVLA are useless, i was driving around with almost 3 years with a licence that apparently wasnt strictly legal....

When i moved from my parents house in 2006 i transferred licence over and licence came with new address and so on. When i moved again in 2008 i once again sent the licence away for change of address. I had a call from the DVLA to ask for my old address and new address so i give it to them. When the licence was changed over first time, although they issued me with a licence with new address on it but on their records i was still registered to my parents house.

I have always had an exemplary service from them, touch wood.

One time on my photo licence my signature was so small it was barely readable. And my latest licence they cut my chin off on the photo.

I understand the DVLA will not accept recorded delivery as proof that they received your documents. I was told the reason for this is so they do not have to accept blame when they loose your documents in their internal system.

The DVLA are always right.

I worked there 6 years ago, the place was full of traditional "I'm always right" civil service types. The general perception was the callers were always either all up to something or simply always wrong. If someone called up who had a good knowledge of what they were phoning up about they were generally treated with distain.
