Ricky Martin comes out
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8594121.stm
Next they'll be telling us the pope is Catholic and bears defacate in the forest. Reminds of that line from The Simpsons when Mr Burns says "It's the biggest waste of effort since Ricky Martin's girlfriend". |

Its a bit of a no news really, who cares if he is gay apart from his boyfriend

Re: Ricky Martin comes out
I hate this about gay people, what is the need for everyone to know who cares, just get on with your life.

....Oh that's right they were.. ;) Seriously though it's all about what people around them expect.. I wonder how many singles he sold to young girls based purely on his hetrosexual connotations?? |

Ricky who?

Re: Ricky Martin comes out
Of course you can understand why someone would want to keep it quiet as Kymmy has said, especially someone in the entertainment industry.
I'll never forget when Rob Halford let slip in 1998 on an MTV show he was gay, loads of people in the rock and metal community already knew, but the fans didn't mind one bit, appreciating him and his talent. You'll always get some Neanderthal who'll have to say something, but society is best ignoring those kind of folks anyway. |

What I can't stand is celebrities who we know are gay, we've accepted them as such yet they dance around the issue. Dale Winton was an example, he kept saying "I know people think I'm gay but I'm not saying" for years but really, was that ever going to damage his career? Dale Winton?! Mika is another one, for years he wouldn't confirm or deny and finally he came out and said "oh ok.....I don't like labels but if you must call me anything, call me bisexual" when he is in fact gay. I can understand it when a celebrity is marketed as straight and they are worried about coming out might lose them fans but when it's pretty obvious (or at least they're already accepted as ambiguous) then I think they're just being delusional. |
