Ask the Chancellors

I think everyone who has posted in any of the many, many political threads in this forum recently should watch this programme tonight - 8pm, Channel 4.

Quote:

As part of the televised hustings that will lead us up to the general election, Channel 4 gives a studio audience the chance to probe the Chancellor, Alistair Darling, and his Conservative and Liberal shadows, George Osborne and Vince Cable.

Afterwards, we can have an intelligent, reasoned discussion about the economy based on what the three of them (Cable, Osborne and Darling) had to say. ;)

There's no point in having an "intelligent, reasoned discussion", when we all know that it's* Maggie's fault.

*"it's" being a range of values from climate change to someone's bad cough....;)

Well it has to happen one day. :erm:

It'll be interesting to see if there are actual discussions or whether it resorts to petty name-calling and point scoring.

I think it's fairly inevitable what Darling and Osborne will be engaging in. Darling doesn't exactly have a pristine record to discuss so will revert to criticism of Conservatism and how not spending money like it's going out of fashion will destroy the world as we know it and Osborne doesn't have much of any substance to discuss so will revert to criticism of Darling / Brown.

Vince Cable came out best, mind you, a chimp in between those other 2 would come out best.

Now we just need to hear from all the other parties we can vote for. That would be more democratic, instead of being force fed LabCon..... Lib.

Re: Ask the Chancellors

vince cable definitely won that debate .

Re: Ask the Chancellors

Vince Cable is great. He is pretty much the only reason I shall be voting Lib Dem because he called the economic crisis before it all kicked off. I heard Cable won, then Darling, then Osborne. Although the last two seem to be interchangeable dependent on the bias of the reporter, so I guess a drew there.

Even more of a pleasure to say that Dr Cable is my MP after that :)

Re: Ask the Chancellors

Vince Cable, without any doubt, but then I've always been impressed with him when he's been on programmes like Question Time. As Damien says he was warning of the economic crisis years ago.

Well done Vince!
