Recommended Max Connections

In Internet Explorer & Firefox (Not sure about other browsers) you can change the maxumum number of connections, IE8's default is 6. I wanted to know, what is the recommended max connections it should be set to, i have Internet Explorer set to 24 and Firefox set to 20.

Is this too high? or could i make it a little bit higher without having any problems with web servers.

firefox 3.6.2 is set to 15 as default

My default is 30 and per server is 15
