Portsmouth into administration

It's finally happened, suppose it puts the threat of immediate extinction off for a couple of months.

Huddersfield Town fan in peace.

It might not stop them being wound up next week as it depends on if HMRC think they'll get their money back through administration.

Plus if administration is accepted HMRC usually vote against CVA's from football clubs so Portsmouth will likely be hit with more point deductions next season (see Rotherham, Bournemouth last season) so its possible they'll be playing in League 1 in a couple of seasons.

Finally as its never happened before there's no precident so the football league might not accept a club in administration like the Blue Square leagues don't.

Sad for the fans but it appears the management has been awful for the last few years. They paid bucket loads for the team assembled which won them the FA cup and gave them a few good reasons but they could ill-afford it. Clubs need to start living within their means and hopefully this will serve as an example.

it was bound to happen... a shame as the supporters are a good bunch but I think it wasnt bad management but bad ownership that killed the club in more ways then 1

i wonder if the FA would allow Man Utd with £700million debt to go into administration or would they bend over backwards and bend rules to prevent it ?

Don't buy that, there is a reason why administration was put of for so long and it was nothing to do with a points deduction, with luck the administrator will get to the bottom of what's been going on, one ex owner is already in court for fraud and imo he wont/shouldn't be the last, some thing stinks about this.

The Administrator is looking to avoid a points deduction:

As a Southampton supporter whose team were denied an appeal against their points deduction, I will be mightily miffed if they're successful because they happen to be in the Premiership...

Don't think that will happen Cobby..I think they will be dealt with just as harshly.

However I wonder what would happen if it was the mighty Man U who were going into receivership.
