ntlworld outbound mail size limit

Is there a limit on the outbound size, and if so what?

If it was the person at the other end blocking it as oversize I'd get a cryptic undeliverable message. I'm not getting that far which suggests to me that Virgin Media is my problem.

So 17MB isn't going to work then :(

If that size limit is correct, no, and also once files are encoded into the email they can be as much as 50% bigger

FYI once the ntlworld addresses are migrated to Google the maximum message size will go up to 20Mb

However, intermediate (and receiving) SMTP servers may not deal with a file that size.

from what i remember being told by Virgin is that max file size of the mailbox is 20mb but max file size u can send is 10mb.

Ive never been able to send anything over 5mb on Virgin without it freezing and dying a death.

Split the file into smaller chunks with something like WinRAR, I use 4Mb segments.

That sounds like the rules for the @Ntlworld.com addresses

If you are on the Virgin Media Mail platform then this applies

Quote:

Maximum message size in Virgin Media Mail

You can send and receive messages up to 20 megabytes (MB) in size, including attachments. Incoming messages over 20 MB will be returned to the sender
And you have a mailbox size of 7Gb

Upload the file to mediafire.com and then make it private, then email the URL to your recipient.

Remember that the message size including headers and following conversion for transmission will be much larger than the file you are sending!
