Hello,

I have recentley installed a new router and sorted my Virgin connection out, getting a solid 19.90mb DL, .750mb UL throughout the day, browsing and connecting to anything is fantastic.

Although, when i host a game, everyone in the UK or anywhere connects terrible to me. It's fine after 12 at night, but worse than connecting to Mexico throughout the day.

What are the restrictions on 20mb?

No restrictions at all unless you;re traffic managed

Is there anything else that could be causing people connecting to me from the UK to have a 4second lag, but my friend with a 2mb AOL connection (400k upload) is perfectly fine?

Over subscription is one thing... there was I also believe a thread on someonething to do with QAM v QPSK upload modulation causing the issues.. Try a sreach

Everyday after 3pm i can host fine though, are you postive theirs no fair usage restrictions?

Only the traffic management. What game is it? What router? What security packages do you have installed. How are you connected? Wifi or Wired?

3pm is end of schooltime..lots of young people coming home and starting thier p2p, game servers and youtube streaming.. Could be over subscription... Search the forum for your area and see if anyone else has reported similar problems

I started out on 20meg(absolutley zero problems gaming),upgraded to 50meg,found the connection terrible for gaming,downgraded back to 20 meg got left with the 50meg modem and now have a terrible connection for gaming.

I give up..I don`t have the time to worry about it anymore,phonecalls,tech visits,new routers,which i don`t use,i plug straight to modem.
