SNMP on 50mb connection

Hi,

I would like to know, if SNMP is possible on modem that is provided by Virginmedia for 50mb connection ( I presume no, because there are no conf options for modem ), or on router that is also provided by Virginmedia as part of package, I am using D-Link, given by VM as part of package, I have checked on that router, there is no such provision, on router, but I would like to know the usage of bandwidth.

I recently got a rented CCNP training kit from a supplier, I did enabled SNMP on cisco 3750 switch, I was able to monitor, but I had to return that kit back to supplier after maturity of contract. Now I am really looking forward the usage stat using SNMP.

Any idea, how to enable it on VM hardware, or I have to buy another router with SNMP support? I thought that it will be common function, but to my surprise, it is not, majority of hardware available for home usage is not supporting SNMP.

Thanks in advance

Re: SNMP on 50mb connection

The is nothing configurable on a Virgin modem by the end user and any attempt would be a breach of the Terms and Conditions.

You can do whatever you want with a 3rd party router though.
