French channels on Virgin
 

Hi,
Having a look at the channels list I can only find one French channel, TV5, I am interested in this as my OH and I are trying to learn French with a view to move to France in a few years and we're also trying to teach it to our 6 months old baby.

I was wondering if someone could tell me if this is a good channel and if it includes good children programs.

The Radio Times website will tell you what programmes are on.

A quick scan of the listings and there doesn't seem to to be anything for children.

You might want to look online here:
http://videos.tf1.fr/programmes-tv-jeunesse/

This channel has a load of videos a bit like bbci player and as long as it says "intégralité" you can view the whole programme.

Thanks both for your replies.
That is a good link however videos seem to be only 30 sec long at most.

I will keep looking, this was the whole purpose of getting Virgin TV but with only one french channel with no kids programes... does anyone know of any other way of getting french tv channels in London?

You can try Livestation which is an app that streams live TV to your desktop. They have a number of French feeds.

TV5 have childrens shows on Saturday and Sunday mornings, including Pat et Stan (awesome) and Magic Roundabout in it's original language. Set the video/V+.


A lot of TV5 shows have French subtitles and they who Paroles de Clips on Saturday and Sunday which are subtitled music videos.

Good luck with learning French, look at Radio Lingua network on the web as well, they have some good Podcasts.

Oh yes and Euronews allows you to have a French language feed via the red button.
