Wireless Networking Problem-Keep losing connection

Help please. What little hair I have got is going

Have Virgin as broadband provider and their wireless router.Has been working OK and then I kept losing internet access.

Received a new router but that's not the problem as other laptops receive a connection from it.

Its's not my laptop as I can get connected via other wireless networks

It's not Virgin as connected direct to modem it works

As soon as my laptop starts searching for a signal it disconnects any one else who is using the net

When I can get online I'm on for 2 to 3 minutes then it goes for good or can't get on at all-but it shows I'm connected on the screen!!!

If I'm connected direct with ethernet cable via the router same problem

UK Virgin helpline-tried and no joy-they think it's the lap top

Any ideas?

Re: Wireless Networking Problem-Keep losing connection

You need to try to isolate the problem.

You say it's ok when directly attached to the modem but not directly attached to the router?

Have you cloned the mac address in the router?

Next time it happens, particularly on a direct connection, try to connect to the router or modem rather than the internet and check what they say (192.168.1.100 or 192.168.2.1)
