IR Extender for V+ Box
Hi guys,
I have been looking on google for weeks for this answer and I havn't found anything, so I have come here. I have a Mediaportal Tv Server linked to my V+ box via a Hauppauge HD PVR. I have 3 client machines which get the TV stream Off the TV server, an everything works brilliantly there. I want to be able to use a V+ remote to control each of clients when using the TV stream. I currently use a MCE remote for browsing through the other things on MediaPortal, but the MCE remote lacks the buttons a V+ does, so I was thinking I could have 2 remotes for each client, A MCE for navigating and a V+ for flicking through the tv and on demand. I cant use a blaster as I have no input for the V+ remote. I don't want to use the devices that sit on top and transmit the IR waves wirelessly, due to reliability, the extra equipment, and as far as i know, its a 1:1 ratio What I would like is an IR reciever to recieve the V+ remotes signals that I can plug into each client pc (Win7) and a IR Blaster I can plug into the server(win7) that repeats those signals. This would be the best option as each room has a network point and I really dont want to add any extra cables around. Can anybody help? |
Re: IR Extender for V+ Box
I don't know of a commercial product that will do that, but I've done something similar in the past using LIRC.
Or see if http://www.letsautomate.com can help you. |
Re: IR Extender for V+ Box
I did come across LIRC when searching and looked through the documentation and all, but found it a bit diffucult to understand. I also didnt fancy making my own hardware, and the other hardware it did support, I was not familiar with. If the worst comes to the worst I will have to give LIRC ago. Also isnt LIRC only supported by linux?
Any other ideas? |
