Sneaky Sky

Am I correct in assuming that Sky will only be broadcast the new series of Lost on Sky 1 HD and not the SD version of Sky 1? If so I may need to resort to "ahem" other methods! From looking at the Sky1 HD website it seems to infer that this will be the case. Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

Well that would equally alienate a large number of their own subscribers so I would suspect that it will be on Sky 1 SD also.

I have noticed more recently that they tend to advertise programmes as being on Sky 1 HD...think we are expected to know it will be on the SD version too :)

If you check out the Sky website it says "Lost - only on Sky1 HD"

Linkage?

Re: Sneaky Sky

Like I said, it just seems to market Sky 1 & Sky1 HD as simply Sky 1 HD these days.

They would lose a lot of advertising revenue (which partially funds such programme acquisitions) if they didn't show these programmes is SD :)

Link: http://sky1.sky.com/ (should appear as the main advert in the centre of the screen)

I would read that as "Only on Sky - not on Channel 4 any more, and not likely to be any time soon, so how about you subscribe to Sky now please? I mean, we bought Lost so you would, but you didn't, and now we're a bit strapped for cash ... go on, pretty please ... ?" ;)

Re: Sneaky Sky

You may have also noticed that Sky have been putting up banners on new shows being aired on Sky 1 SD, advising its customers (and having a sneaky swipe at non Sky customers such as VM) that the show is also being shown on Sky 1 HD. As well as this they seem to advertise new series as being on Sky HD and not mentioning SD.

Its obviously a ploy to upsell its HD services to its customers, whilst not telling them that it doesn't matter, the show is on Sky 1 SD anyway. :)

Is this the same Sky 1 that virgin was DESPERATE to get back when sky removed it from them. You can get anything from the net so why do you bother having a TV service at all.
