PWP publishing problem

Hello all

I am a former Telewest user so I am on Blueyonder.

I am trying to upload some iWeb pages from a macbook and have tried using a couple of stand-alone FTP clients. I am trying to upload to ftp.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk using the name between the www. and .pwp and with the password that is the same as the one attached to the mailbox from which that alias was taken.

Whichever ftp client I use, I get a message that the username and password have failed.

In case this problem was related to that mailbox being inactive, I have tried using it during the past two days, but still get the same result. I was going to delete the alias and insert it again, maybe in a different one of my five mailboxes, but the selfcare page says that amendments cannot be made at this time. Interestingly, although emails in and out of that alias have worked, my email programme reports that "the server for X account returned the error LOGON FAILURE - UNKNOWN USER NAME OR BAD PASSWORD.

I would really appreciate any advice. Cheers, BILL.

This is what I see at the bottom of selfcare

We are currently in the process of upgrading our email system. From now on you may not add or remove addresses to your mailboxes. Also, you will not be able to add or delete any mailbox during this time. As soon as the upgrade is completed you will be able to add and delete mailboxes.
Don't know how long this alledged upgrade is going to take though

It is part of the migration to the Google platform which has been well publicised and therefore not an alleged upgrade and over the next few months you will see your mailbox size go from 30Mb up to 2Gb.

Thanks for the responses - yes, I saw the message about changes to the email system. Any idea when I will again be able to amend my mailboxes?

Also, is there something else I can do to get the website uploads sorted in the meantime?

Cheers

You will need to call support on 151 from a Virgin phone or 0845 454 1111 from any other phone for information regards your PWP.

As for the migration you will have to wait for the message to disappear.

Hi Moldova

I tried the 151 call but it wasn't so helpful. I got through to Sandeep in India who thought I would just have to give it a week or so for the email upgrade to complete. When I asked him how long it had been like this he thought it had been maybe 30 days so far. I asked if no-one had been able to upload to their PWPs since then but he didn't know. He said I would have to use the Virgin website for more help, but there is no help for this matter there. I thought I would be better off trying to speak with someone in the UK who might know more, but he said I would just have to keep redialling until I got through to a UK centre.

Would you know - does this upgrade mean that no-one can upload to PWPs at the moment? How can I find out when the work will complete? Is there a way to get through to more technical people here?

Thanks.

Are there any website hosting companies that people can suggest? If I am unable to get the Blueyonder PWP to work, I will have to use a service elsewhere. Are any of the "free" ones any good?

All help appreciated.

If you want a load of space, and VERY LITTLE bandwidth for a html only site, then heart internets free plan should do the trick
