V+ is great but...

...the only recording that failed while we were away over Christmas was the only one that I really wanted to see and wasn't repeated when I was able to see it and I can't find it on HD catch up...Doctor Who: The End of Time part one. Everything else was recorded perfectly but not that one...just as well I watched it live in SD at my Mum's...grrr!!

To back up webrosc, Digiguide informs me that there's a Doctor Who marathon starting on BBC HD on New Years Day (1st Jan) at 2:35pm with Planet of the Dead. The Full Dr Who Listing is:

2:35pm - 3:35pm : Planet of the Dead
3:35pm - 4:35pm : Doctor Who Confidential
4:35pm - 5:40pm : The Waters of Mars
5:40pm - 6:40pm : The End of Time (Part 1)
6:40pm - 7:55pm : The End of Time (Part 2)
7:55pm - 8:55pm : Doctor Who Confidential

All on the BBC HD Channel in HD. So, start taping (or hard-disking) on New Years Day if you missed any of last few Tennant Specials.

HD recording sometimes doesn't record, but it's not very often. Oh and if i can remember back to last year. I'm sure it was new years day that all the timings were out and the ends of recorded programs were cut off. I'm going to set Dr Who to record twice to be on the safe side.

Dr.Who also failed for me, but it's on again on New Years Day. The V+ is not the most reliable of things unfortunately. It's also too bad that the HD iPlayer stuff is so incomplete.

Curiously, it's the BBC HD recordings that have a habit of failing. I think Virgin Media should look at this.

I set it up to record on New Year's Day, along with part two and it blooming failed again...at least part two recorded OK in HD. I suspect Murphy or Sod or one of them laws may have been operating :)

Not to bang my drum too much, but if this had happened 20 years ago, you would have asked your mates 'did anyone record this'? If somebody had, they would have lent you the tape. We've lost this completely. This happened with the TG Bolivia Special on BBC HD - my mate's Sky+ HD box had a fliddy, so I copied my .WTV recording on to a memory stick and gave it to him. Voila, everybody's happy.

I found out last night my Gruffalo recording in HD had not worked. Pressed play and it was blank with a timer just ticking along at about 2 hours. Best not have happened to Dr Who also!

Phew, watched my two Christmas Doctor Who episodes last night and the V+ had taped them correctly. Hopefully, The Royal Family Christmas Special is okay too :)
