12 month blues for my V+ Remote

Morning all,

I trust you all had a good Christmas and havn't got too much of a food/drink related hangover?

Now onto the problem I have. For some strange reason my remote TV volume buttons are working erratically this morning. I have tried pressing them numerous times so far and they have only worked a couple of times. Anyone else having this problem?

So far I have tried the following to fix it:

Reset the V+ box
Unplug V+ box from the mains
Re-programmed remote using the same 4 digit code that worked the first time.

Other info:
All other functions on the remote work normally (in fact quicker than normal lol).
Remote light on V+ box does not come on when pressing volume keys but does with everything else.
I have the SA V+ box
TV remote changes the volume as normal
My area is Hertfordshire (Area 24 from memory)

Ironically the TV is exactly a year old as I bought it last boxing day, surely its a coincidence that this has stopped working :dunce:

Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Joe

Try new batteries in the remote.

Thanks Spiderplant, still no joy by changing the batteries tho.

However I have cracked the problem. It turns out that a rogue Christmas Decoration, a Farting Santa (Don't Ask) was half blocking the IR receiver on the TV. I had wrongly assumed the V+ remote controlled the volume through the STB where as it controls it by the TV's own IR signal.

Problem solved

Thanks

Joe

I must admit to laughing about it now but at the time it was very frustrating lol.

The farting santa was a secret santa prezzy and it basically sits there with an inviting label on its hand saying 'press here'. When you do it comes out with a rip roaring guff followed by some hilarious lines :)

My personal favourite is '(Farts) Ahhhhh, the holiday smell!'

Every home should have one :D

That reminds me of a service call I got on xmas eve, to a freeview box not responding to the remote. When I got there it was working perfectly.

At 4pm when I thought I had finished for the day and was having a cup of tea,the call centre phoned me.
"Any chance you can go back as the remote has stopped working again"

Now it's a 30 mile round trip to this customer but I said "Yes".
When I got there I spotted she had put a small santa clause ornament directly in front of the IR receiver of the stb. On the previous visit she had cleared the ornaments away.
I was not a happy bunny.
