Tough group. Ah well, 6 months of John Terry saying "I think we can do it this year", a month of the newspapers forgetting other national teams exist in the UK, The Dambusters theme being played on Sky Sports then weeks of post mortems about how England failed to qualify for the the quarter finals and who should be the new manager. Ahh yes, World Cup time :D

Also time for people who know nothing about Football to declare why we are the best team in the World and attempt to explain why.

What are the other national teams doing that month to be in the papers, are they even playing any matches?

Probably have some friendlies on. But the way the papers will talk about England you'd think that's the only nation with a team in the UK.

Oh right, they probably have some friendlies on, who will they be playing, all the decent teams will be in SA and don't you you mean the papers will talk about England like they are the only UK nation actually at the World Cup.

Um...no, talking like they're the only nation in the UK. The vast majority of English fans don't see it because you're used to it. Maybe us Celts can get a discount off the cover price..

So you want Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to get equal coverage at a tournement none of them have qualified for.

Re: Football World Cup 2010

I've never said equal coverage.

A reduction in English jingoism would be nice though.

Prefer a bit of French jingoism or something, the other home nations wont get any coverage for 1 reason, they didn't qualify.

OK you seem to be under the impression I said the other nations should get coverage.

I haven't said that.

What I would like to see is a change from the normal practice of assuming the whole of the UK is will be supporting England. Whereas many probably will, a sizeable amount won't care whether they win or lose.
