I just wonder if better checks on immigrants might have been a better way to control terrorism in this country..........but I fear that it is too late now.

Its very, very doubtful that stricter immigration controls would have any real effect on islamofascist terrorism in the UK. The most likely candidates for home grown terrorist plots are second and third generation immigrants.... Namely the children and grandchildren of immigrants that settled in the UK in the 50's and 60's. Ofc it's impossible to rule out more recent arrivals to the UK as potential scuicide bombers....
